    I'm currently on F-1 OPT which expires on September 30th. My employer filed my H-1B and it was selected in the lottery. The petition is still pending. Can I start working on my H-1B status on October 1st even if it's not approved yet? I've heard conflicting information about the cap-gap extension and whether it covers this scenario. My employer's HR is not very experienced with immigration and I want to make sure I don't fall out of status.

  4. Citizenship interview experience - passed on first try!

    After 6 years on a green card, I finally had my naturalization interview last week and I passed! The whole process took about 30 minutes. The officer asked me 6 civics questions (I got all of them right) and then had me read and write a sentence in English. After that, she went through my N-400 application and asked about my travel history and any changes since filing. The oath ceremony was scheduled for the next week. I'm now officially a U.S. citizen! Happy to share tips for anyone preparing.
